hello Asa, my name is mark,I too have NF2. In seventh grade a girl threw a book at me for teasing her. well, the seventh grade history book hit my behind my left ear leaving a bump. But thr bump never went away and that's when the strange pains in my head started..long story short nine different doctors told my that my lump was just a fatty cist it wasn't causing the pains & thaatit was only superficial. finally two years ago (after suffering whith the various pains, slowed reflex's numbness in my shins, fingers, & face) I was taken seriously whe my left eye went crossed for now reason. well there was a reason but the doctors still couldn't figure out what my problem was they thought I looded perfectly healthy for my age. I said no I'm not your eye doesn't just go crossed for no reason and I wasn't leaving the E.R. until I had a C.A.T. scan. They told me "well Mr. Duff that's going to cost you $1,000 dollers, out of my pocket because I didn't have insurence at the time. I agreed, got the scan only to be moved out of the E.R.and then told that I probubly had cistic sarcosis(an abnormal amount of calicum deposits in my brain,or some kind of parasite from eating undercooked pork. The doctor on duty wanted to send me to County USC hospital in LA but I said no thank you by this time it was9:30 on a friday night I was not spending the weekend in the hospital. two months later I got insurence and a MRI three weeks after that I was on thr operating table having 1 Orange (the fruit) sized tumor removed from my brain.I also , after recovering from the 1st surgery had four more removed from between the base of my skull and C-1 ,C-2 and C-2,C-3 that were pinching the blood flow to my brain. It's time for me to go back and get another one removed.. Asa I feel your pain, the ones that we find hard to explain to those who havent walked in our shoes my preyers's are with you and your family. PS your not alone:)

Hi Asa and family,
I remember reading your story in the national papers and it struck a chord with me as my father has NF2 which has left him deaf and I too have a very mild form that may one day leave me deaf also, however, this is nothing to what you have been through and are experiencing, you are a true inspiraton and you must keep smiling always little soldier - keep bouncing on that trampoline too that sounds truly fun.........I will be thinking of you every day and will visit your site often now I have found it.
Take care - all my love and best wishes from Anna xx
