The Long Day
Asa's Dad (Paul) wrote a moving letter while Asa was waiting to go in for his first operation......

Asa's vision over the summer months had deteriorated quite rapidly..although he would never mention it himself. I think he worries more about us worrying!

Debbie had also noticed increased headaches and nausea on an evening and Asa was waking in the night distressed and disorientated.

We now know that this was due to the pressure inside Asa's brain, and possibly epileptic seizures.

With the onset of the two recent and alarming fits in the day all plans for a Cranial Pressure check were brought forward and Asa was operated on to implant a Shunt to relieve the pressure inside his brain.

We spent nearly 2weeks at Southampton General Hospital and eventually got home on the 28th October.

Asa has lost nearly a stone in weight due to the nausea and vomiting, and he is still adjusting to the changes in pressure. However he stays happy and pleased to be home.

From a family point of view we are pleased that hopefully the fits, headaches and sickness are now under control. Now our concern is the large tumour affecting Asa's remaining sight, but we are keeping all options open.

Right now we are all looking forward to Christmas and intend to have a great time over the festive period.
